Mirabaud & Cie appointed four new members to its wealth management operation in the North West of Switzerland. Meanwhile, the Basel branch of the private bank has relocated to the Hardhof Building. Mirabaud appointed Kaspar Hess, Christoph Kobler, Roger von Arx and Chantal Bieri to bolster its operation in Switzerland. Hess, Kobler and von Arx, who were all relationship managers, join the firm from Credit Suisse. Bieri has joined Mirabaud from UBS, where she was an assistant.

JP Morgan Asset Management announced that Jasper Berens, head of UK funds, decided to pursue other opportunities. He continued to serve the business for an interim period to ensure a smooth transition. Berens joined predecessor company Robert Fleming & Co in 1997. He was promoted to head of sales in 2005 and head of UK Funds business in 2012. The existing UK funds leadership team now reports to Massimo Greco, head of EMEA funds. 

Lombard Odier Investment Managers appointed Arnaud Langlois and Cyrus Azarmgin, as portfolio manager and senior analyst, respectively. Langlois has 20 years’ experience in the investment industry. He was formerly a portfolio manager at Millennium, and was also at UBS O'Connor. He also spent nine years in equity research at JPMorgan. Azarmgin has worked with Arnaud at JP Morgan, UBS O’Connor, and Millennium.

Switzerland-based Banque Cramer, which has a private banking operation, appointed Elvan Cetinel-Walker as chief financial officer and Olivier Taillard as chief operating officer. Cetinel-Walker and Taillard report directly to chief executive Cédric Anker. Prior to Banque Cramer, Cetinel-Walker joined the Garanti Bank Group in 2000 and participated in the establishment of its private bank in Geneva. Taillard started his career with Credit Suisse in 1987, where he spent 10 years in various positions in units related to private clients and projects management. He has also held roles at Dresdner Bank, HSBC Private Bank Switzerland and Julius Baer.

Swiss banking group Julius Baer appointed Jean-Luc Le Tocq and Craig Allen to the branch management board of the firm in Guernsey. They both joined the company in early 2016. Le Tocq has 28 years’ industry experience. He spent 13 years on the Channel Islands’ management board at his previous employer. Allen has 20 years’ industry experience and oversees the investment management business locally. Prior to joining Julius Baer, Allen served on four different boards across the UK and Guernsey for another Swiss bank.

Kuber Ventures, the alternatives platform offering tax-efficient investments, made four hires. Joining the firm are three new business development managers across various UK regions: Jon Lilley, covering London, has nearly 40 years’ experience in financial services; Dan Moss focuses on the Midlands, Northwest and Northeast. He has over two decades’ experience as a financial services professional; James D’Mello tackles London, the Southeast and East of England, and Scotland. He has more than 10 years’ experience in financial services across a range of sectors, and Ashley Smith, meanwhile, joined as a business development associate. Smith is a former professional rugby player for the London Wasps and London Welsh.

BNP Paribas Asset Management appointed Christophe Bonnefoux to the newly-created role of chief data officer. Based in Paris, he reports to Fabrice Silberzan, BNPP AM’s chief operating officer. Bonnefoux is responsible for data management, including determining the strategic direction of data integrity and quality, defining the data quality management framework, and promoting and leveraging the use of data management tools. Before joining BNPP AM, he worked for Arthur Andersen, EY and Accenture Digital, where he advised management committees on their data and business analytics strategies. He is a member of the French Institute of Statistics.

Barclays hired Alexandra Mancini as a wealth manager of its wealth and investments team in Scotland to support business growth. As well as looking after clients in the east of Scotland, Mancini has a remit for growing the bank’s entrepreneurial, SME and charity customer base.

She joined from Tilney, where she was a business development executive responsible for driving growth and developing new commercial opportunities. Prior to that she was a corporate advisor for FEX Group, and is a qualified solicitor in her native Australia. Mancini founded and is chair of the IoD Scotland Young Directors Forum. Since its launch in 2014, she has led the delivery of its programme for Scotland’s emerging directors, intrapreneurs and entrepreneurs. This includes facilitating access to business expertise, mentoring and networking opportunities.

Mirabaud Asset Management appointed Elena Villalba to lead business development across all investor segments in Spain, Portugal and Latin America. Villalba joined from MerchBanc, where she headed business development. She has around 20 years’ experience in the sector, and spent time at Credit Suisse, American Express and Focus Capital.

UK law firm Boodle Hatfield re-appointed Sara Maccallum as senior partner, and partners Saskia Arthur and Simon Rylatt to the firm’s management committee.  Maccallum was first elected senior partner in 2015. Head of residential property Saskia Arthur and head of private client and tax Simon Rylatt joined the management committee in the same year. 

Custom House Global Fund Services, a hedge fund administration firm working with clients such as family offices and wealth managers, appointed David Barry as chief operations officer. He splits his time between the group’s Dublin and Malta offices. With over 20 years of experience working in the hedge funds and fund administration space, Barry re-joined Custom House after spending two and half years as chief executive of Portcullis Asset Management. 

Jupiter Asset Management appointed Talib Sheikh as head of strategy, multi-asset, effective June 2018. This was a newly-created role based in London. He reports directly to chief investment officer, Stephen Pearson. He works with a team of professionals in the asset class including fund managers Lee Manzi and Rhys Petheram. Sheikh joined from JP Morgan Asset Management, where as a managing director and portfolio manager he has worked nearly 20 years.

UK-based investment manager Brooks Macdonald appointed Ben Thorpe as group finance director. Thorpe has 18 years’ experience in financial services, most recently as head of finance at Brewin Dolphin, where he was responsible for group financial planning and analysis, financial control, tax and treasury. He has also held senior finance positions at Standard Bank and Barclays Capital, having worked for Royal Bank of Scotland and Morgan Stanley earlier in his career. 

UK law firm Shoosmiths appointed Angela Bowman, to its trusts and probate operation. She is based at the firm’s Thames Valley office. A partner with her previous firm, Freeths , Bowman heads up Shoosmiths’ specialist contentious trusts and probate team in the South of England.

Old Mutual Wealth announced that Richard Freeman was retiring from the business at the end of June 2018, to focus on his personal interests. Freeman was a founding director of Intrinsic in 2005. As chief executive, he led the acquisition by Old Mutual Wealth in July 2014. He was also a member of the FCA’s financial advice market review working group.

Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment appointed John Cubitt as president. Cubitt is a wealth manager with Cunningham Coates, part of the Smith & Williamson Group. He has over 18 years of wealth management experience, managing investment portfolios for private clients, trusts, companies and charities on a discretionary and non-discretionary basis. He replaced Chris Taggart, chartered FCSI of Quilter Cheviot as president of the region as part of its succession planning. 

UK financial planning firm Killik & Co announced that Harry Stothert left the firm to pursue other interests. Stothert was an investment manager at the firm. He joined in April 2014 from Global Investment Strategy UK.

Switzerland’s Notenstein La Roche Private Bank overseas the investment office of its parent, Raiffeisen Group, integrating operations into one. Mathis Büttiker, member Büttiker has been a member of the executive board of Notenstein La Roche since November 2016. Prior to his current role, Büttiker was CIO of Notenstein La Roche. Before this he headed up research and fund Management at Notenstein La Roche.

UK private bank Arbuthnot Latham made a number of hires. It appointed Dean Moore as head of wealth planning, Nick Ellis-Calcott as business transformation director, Nick Bailey as managing director of business development, Andy Rushmer as head of information and cyber security, a newly-created role, and Colin MacKenzie as a director of investment management at its London office.

UBS Wealth Management appointed Richard Wood as a client advisor in its Leeds office. Wood joins UBS after spending 10 years at Barclays Wealth. Having joined Barclays as a portfolio manager, Wood moved into a private banking role in 2010, where he focused on advising high net worth clients in Yorkshire.

Geneva-headquartered Union Bancaire Privée appointed Adrian Künzi as chief executive of its Zurich branch and head of the Northern Europe region within the private banking division. Künzi has more than 20 years’ experience in the sector. Prior to joining UBP, he had been chief executive of Notenstein La Roche Private Bank, a role he held from 2012. Before that, Künzi spent more than ten years with Wegelin & Co Private Bankers, occupying a variety of roles, including head of Western Switzerland.

Wells Fargo Asset Management appointed Peter Weidner as head of factor solutions and Mark Brandreth as a senior portfolio manager within the multi-asset solutions team. Both are based in London, and both join the firm from the Schroders multi-asset team. Weidner and Brandreth focus on designing solutions with a specific emphasis on portfolio construction. Weidner and Brandreth will report to Dan Morris, global head of portfolio solutions.

At Schroders, Weidner was head of the advanced beta group and managed a range of systematic investment strategies across asset classes. As head of portfolio construction and trading systems at Schroders, Brandreth developed a pan-asset-class portfolio management and trading system for the multi-asset team. Prior to joining Schroders, he was with BlackRock as a managing director in the scientific equities group.

HSBC Global Asset Management appointed Fredrik Cygnaeus as managing director of its branch in Sweden. He is responsible for further expanding HSBC Global Asset Management’s client-centric business across the Nordic region, together with sales manager Kim Lindberg.

Santander Private Banking International in Geneva named Duncan Munro as senior vice president for its UK-focused business in Switzerland. Prior to this, Munro managed Lombard Odier's UK-orientated team in Geneva. His 37-year banking career has primarily been based in Geneva, where he has previously also run private banking teams for HSBC and Lloyds.

Jupiter Asset Management named Talib Sheikh as head of strategy, multi-asset. He reports to chief investment officer, Stephen Pearson.  Talib joined from JP Morgan Asset Management, where he was a managing director and portfolio manager for nearly 20 years. 

Michael Schoenhaut and Eric Bernbaum continue to manage JP Morgan Investment Funds – Global Income Fund and JP Morgan Investment Funds – Global Income Conservative Fund. 
- Bernbaum was added as co-portfolio manager on JPM Multi-Asset Income Fund alongside existing portfolio manager Schoenhaut. 
- Existing portfolio managers James Elliot and Shrenick Shah continue to manage JP Morgan Investment Funds – Global Macro Opportunities Fund and JP Morgan Investment Funds – Global Macro Fund. Gareth Witcomb continue to manage JP Morgan Investment Funds – Global Balanced Fund.  Katy Thorneycroft and Jonathan Cummings were added as co-portfolio managers. 
- Elliot and Witcomb continue to manage JP Morgan Investment Funds – Global Macro Balanced Fund. Natalia Bucci and Francesco Conte continue to co-manage JP Morgan Investment Funds – Multi-Asset PIR Fund. Peter Malone and Witcomb were added as co-portfolio managers. 

UK-based Carlton James Global Management, a private investment group, appointed Bob Pain as chairman. Pain previously worked as chairman of the board and managing director at Investors Trust, and as global sales director and board member at Friends Provident International.

Bellecapital International hired four managers from Switzerland’s Vontobel. Michael Wuethrich, Pascal Küenzi, Thomas Fritz and Benedikt Eichenberger joined Bellecapital International. At Vontobel Swiss Wealth Advisors – to use that operation’s full name - they focused on US clients. Earlier in February, Vontobel said its chief executive dealing with US clients, Deepak Soni, left the firm following an argument about how the company is run. Soni, who was based in Zurich at the time of his departure, had been in his role for more than eight years. From 1999 to 2007 he worked at Citigroup.

Italian banking group UniCredit appointed Marco Bizzozero as head of group wealth management. Bizzozero reports to Gianni Franco Papa, general manager of UniCredit. He has 25 years’ experience in the financial services sector. He was at Deutsche Bank since 2004, where he was head of wealth Management for Europe, Middle East and Africa and chief executive of Deutsche Bank Switzerland for eight years since 2009. Before that, he was global head of private equity investments.

Julius Baer opened a new office in Edinburgh, Scotland, adding five wealth managers. The office is led by Gordon Scott, the firm’s recently-appointed team head of Scotland, Northern Ireland and the Northwest of England. 

Hires: 

Ross Clephane, private banker, specialises in investment management, wealth structuring and credit-related advice. 
Paul Turnbull, a chartered financial planner with 17 years’ experience, focuses on retirement, succession and tax planning. 
Alan Colquhoun spent six years with Barclays looking after a range of clients including entrepreneurs, executives and professionals. 
James Osborne previously worked as a director at Barclays, and has particular expertise in tax planning. 
Stuart Patterson, also a director, spent 16 years with Barclays. He will specialise in serving entrepreneurs, high net worth individuals, families, trusts and companies.

REYL & Cie appointed Ante Razmilovic to head its new structured finance business. Based in London, Razmilovic has 25 years of experience in the structured and secured finance arena. Most recently, Razmilovic worked at Goldman Sachs in London and Hong Kong, as managing director. He has also worked at JP Morgan in London, and began his career at Credit Suisse First Boston and Credit Suisse Financial Products in 1992.

Fulcrum Asset Management appointed Mark Horne as a director within the newly-created Fulcrum alternative strategies team. He reports to partner, Matthew Roberts. Horne previously worked as an independent asset management consultant in London and Paris. Prior to that, he was a senior credit manager researcher at Willis Towers Watson and was director of client services at Natixis Global Associates.

UK-based wealth manager Equilibrium made a raft of new hires, which increases the company's headcount to 72. It hired a former infantry officer in the British Army Daniel Morgan, Rachel Lee, who returned to Equilibrium having left the company in 2015, and ex-teacher-turned-client manager Belinda White. Six other joiners were client manager Jonathon Molloy, Jason Mountford, who has spent 10 years in the financial industry, financial advisor Rachael Settle, Josie Corfield, Michelle Manley, who has joined full time after project managing the firm's recent fund launch, and administrator Deborah Start.

Union Banque Privée appointed Thierry Garde as site manager of its Monaco branch. Before joining UBP, Garde had been chief executive of Société Générale Private Banking in Monaco since 2013. He has over thirty years of experience with the Société Générale group, where he held several positions in France and around the world, including in Moscow, Warsaw, New York, London and Brussels, in both investment and private banking. Garde is also vice president of the Monaco Association for Financial Activities , in charge of the social affairs commission, a role that he will retain alongside his work at UBP Monaco.

Swiss-based online wealth manager Descartes Finance appointed Malcolm Dastur as a senior partner. Dastur previously worked for UBS, and later joined J Safra Sarasin, where he developed a family office with a speciality in real estate.

Fidelity International appointed Romain Boscher as global chief investment officer of equities. He is located in London. Boscher has over 25 years’ experience in the industry and joins from Amundi Asset Management, where he has been Head of Equities for the last seven years. Prior to this, he spent 11 years at Groupama in a range of senior investment roles including deputy chief executive and CIO. He reports to Bart Grenier, global head of asset management.

Fidelity International’s equity portfolio management teams led by Paras Anand , Takashi Maruyama and Tim Orchard report into Boscher, along with the global equity research function led by Henk-Jan Rikkerink. Boscher replaced Dominic Rossi who announced last year that he would be stepping down in early 2018 to focus on public policy within the business.

Estera, the fiduciary and administration services provider, appointed David Lambotte as a director. His role encompasses the management and development of the group’s private client services. Lambotte previously based in Cayman but now based in Jersey, is a full member of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners and a Fellow of The Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators.

The private bank and overseas services arm of Barclays promoted senior figures in its Europe, Middle East and Africa team, with new leadership in Switzerland and Monaco. Gerald Mathieu took on the role of chief executive and general manager of Barclays Bank . Mathieu, who has been working at the bank in Monaco since 2010, moved to Geneva. He led the private banking team in Monaco. Andrew Mott and Sophie Saurini were appointed to lead the private banking teams in Monaco. Jean Daniel Troy continued in his role as deputy general manager for Monaco. The PB&OS business is headed by Karen Frank - CEO PB&OS, which includes both Switzerland and Monaco. As part of the changes, James Buchanan-Michaelson left Barclays.

UBS made top-level appointments in Europe, Middle East and Africa. Agis Leopoulos, the UHNW unit's current head of central and eastern Europe, the Middle East and Africa, appointed vice chairman for EMEA. Leopoulos focuses on complex client relationships. He also works with the leadership team of Caroline Kuhnert, head of ultra-high net worth EMEA and Latin American business at the bank. Former JP Morgan senior figure Ronald Wehrli takes responsibility for the newly-created UHNW Middle East, Israel, Africa and Turkey business.

At JP Morgan, Wehrli has been based in New York, and his most recent position was group head of investment management and client advice responsible for WM EMEA, Asia, Canada & Caribbean. In his 18 years at JPM he held a number of wealth management positions based in Switzerland and New York. Wehrli has an additional reporting line to Ali Janoudi, head of WM CEEMEA, France and Benelux International. Matthias Lehmann, head of global family office for Europe, UHNW France International & Monaco Domestic, additionally take responsibility for UHNW Greece. Tobias Wehrli continues to head the UHNW Greece business and report directly to Lehmann. Philipp Bigger, head of GFO Emerging Markets & UHNW CEE, took responsibility for Central Europe. Bigger also runs UHNW Middle East, Israel, Africa & Turkey until Werhli joined in June.

Investment management firm Quilter Cheviot, part of Old Mutual Wealth, appointed Oliver Harwood, and Vaughn Webber and Scott Holloway to its London and Salisbury offices, respectively. Harwood joined the firm’s London-based investment management team in November. He is responsible for private clients, trusts and institutional clients. He joined the firm from Brooks Macdonald, where he was an Investment Manager. Webber joined the Salisbury office as investment manager from ABSA Bank in South Africa, where he was head of portfolio management for private clients. Holloway also joined the Salisbury office as investment manager on 29 January from Liverpool Victoria, where he was a senior investment analyst. 

Wealth manager Charles Stanley appointed John Devine to its Guildford office, in a bid to bolster its investment management team. Devine joined Charles Stanley from Thesis Asset Management, where he headed the company’s Guildford office.

River and Mercantile Asset Management announced that portfolio manager Philip Rodrigs left the business following an investigation into a professional conduct issue. This news prompted fund ratings agency FundCalibre to take two of the funds that Rodrigs had run off a listing. Rodrigs was previously lead manager of the River and Mercantile UK Equity Smaller Companies Fund, the R&M UK Dynamic Equity Fund, and the R&M UK Micro Cap Investment Company Limited fund. 

RAMAM said the conduct issue was unrelated to his portfolio manager responsibilities and has not impacted the pricing or NAV of any RAMAM fund and that no client or investor has been negatively affected in connection with this matter.

RAMAM appointed Dan Hanbury as manager of the R&M UK Equity Smaller Companies Fund. The multi-cap R&M UK Dynamic Equity Fund is managed by William Lough, in addition to his continuing responsibilities as alternate to Hugh Sergeant on RAMAM’s high alpha and recovery strategies. The firm also appointed George Ensor as manager of the R&M UK Micro Cap Investment Company Limited fund. Independent financial advisor Chelsea Financial Services said it will keep the R&M UK Equity Smaller Companies fund on its selection.

Credit Suisse appointed Alexandra Dhavernas von Elverfeldt as managing director of its international wealth management division. She reports directly to Iqbal Khan, chief executive of IWM. Dhavernas von Elverfeldt has three decades of global experience in advising family offices and family-owned companies. Prior to Credit Suisse, Dhavernas von Elverfeldt founded and served as CEO of Trocadero Corporate Finance, an investment banking and advisory firm. She also worked for the Quilvest Group for more than a decade and was CEO of Quilvest Capital Germany for five years. In her new role, she advises and serve ultra-high net worth families and individuals in European markets. 

Specialist fixed income manager, BlueBay Asset Management appointed Polina Kurdyavko as head of its emerging market debt team. Previously co-head, Kurdyavko became sole head of the BlueBay emerging market debt desk. This happened after David Dowsett’s move to become a strategic adviser on emerging markets for the firm. Both Kurdyavko and Dowsett continue to report into Raphael Robelin, chief investment officer.

RBC Wealth Management appointed Petrina Le Vallois and Sam Ozanne as directors of the firm’s Guernsey-based fiduciary services business. They report to Lisa Barnett, managing director of RBC Trustees , RBC Wealth Management - international. Le Vallois has 35 years of industry experience. She joined RBC from the Guernsey Financial Services Commission and began her new position on 22 January. She joined the board of RBC Trustees . Ozanne joined RBC as a senior associate in 2015, becoming an associate director in 2016. He has a number of years’ experience focused on serving clients with complex structures and holds several industry designations.

HSBC Global Asset Management appointed Sebastien Faucher as head of passive fixed income to its investment team. This was a newly-created role. Based in London, Faucher functionally reports to Xavier Baraton global chief investment officer, fixed income, and locally to Philip Glaze, CIO UK. He joined from Legal & General Investment Management, where he was head of index fixed income, responsible for ongoing fund management activities across all index fund strategies, including fund implementation, client on boarding, and portfolio transition.

Investec chief executive Stephen Koseff and managing director Bernard Kantor stepped down from their positions in October Fani Titi, a non-executive director of Investec’s group board and chairman, and Hendrik du Toit, founding CEO of Investec Asset Management and group executive director, were appointed as CEO designates; they were scheduled to be later joint CEOs of Investec. 

Ciaran Whelan, global joint head of Investec’s specialist bank and global head of private banking, was appointed to the Investec group board as an executive director. He also succeeded Burger as director of risk; he was also due to remain global private banking head until 31 March, 2019.  

ZEDRA, the global specialist in trust, corporate and fund services, opening a Zurich office, its second Swiss office. Vadim Neumann headed up the firm’s operations as managing director for Zurich. Previous to this, he worked at Intertrust, most recently as director of business development in Zurich from July 2017 to January 2018. In his new role, Neumann works with ZEDRA’s Mario Cohn, who is director, corporate and private clients, Latin America, and Giovanni La Forgia, director, corporate and private clients, Europe. 

Wealth management firm Sanlam UK appointed David Mason as chief operating officer. Mason leads development of Sanlam UK’s operational platform, with a specific focus on delivering innovative technology solutions to meet the evolving requirements of its clients. He reports to chief executive Jonathan Polin and will sit on Sanlam UK’s executive committee. The new COO has over 20 years’ experience in wealth management markets across the globe. He has spent the majority of his career with Barclays Wealth and has held a number of senior roles including, global head of IT strategy and architecture, regional chief investment officer and chief of staff to the COO.

The trust and corporate services firm NWH Global appointed Helen Bougourd, head of client services, and Adam Pickering, compliance manager, to its Guernsey board. Bougourd worked for a number of fiduciary businesses in Guernsey over the past 20 years. She rose to the position of client services director before being appointed to her current role at NWH Global, formerly Newhaven Trust, in 2016. Pickering joined NWH Global in 2015, where he designed, implemented and now oversees compliance policy, procedures and controls.

UK-based Ascot Lloyd, an independently-owned IFA firm, appointed Graham Bentley as independent chairman of its investment committee. He replaced Stewart Cowley in the role. Bentley includes responsibility for chairing quarterly investment meetings, which review all areas of Ascot Lloyd’s centralised investment proposition . He held a number of senior roles during his 40-year career, including long term positions at Henderson, M&G, and Old Mutual.

International asset management group Och-Ziff Capital Management appointed Robert Shafir as chief executive. He succeeded Dan Och in the role. Dan Och, the company’s largest shareholder, continued as chairman of the board – the term expires on 31 March, 2019. Shafir, who previously served as the CEO of Credit Suisse Americas and co-head of private banking and wealth management, provide day-to-day leadership and management of the company. 

Julius Baer appointed Jean-Daniel Roch as its market head of “Luxembourg Western Europe”, reporting to Carlos Recoder, head of Western Europe at the Zurich-listed bank. Roch was joined by four new relationship managers. Roch joined the bank with his team after more than 35 years at Credit Suisse in Luxembourg.

Oliver Theisen joined as a senior RM. Theisen spent his whole career of 21 years at Credit Suisse covering premium HNW international private clients. Françoise Dawir joined as a senior RM. She worked at Credit Suisse for 16 years covering premium HNW and UHNW clients from the Benelux and French markets. Previously, she spent ten years as RM at Bank Leu and six years at Banque et Caisse d’Epargne de l’Etat in Luxembourg. Tomasz Kosiur joined as an RM. He was with Credit Suisse for 11 years where he had the opportunity to serve private clients. Prior to that Kosiur worked at Banque J Safra Sarasin as a financial analyst. Nicolas de Canchy joined as a RM. He was at Credit Suisse for 13 years serving both European and Middle Eastern clients. Prior to this, he also worked as an investment analyst in several European locations.

The Financial Conduct Authority appointed Nausicaa Delfas as the executive director of international. In this role, Delfas is responsible for setting and growing the FCA’s strategy for international engagement, and leading its delivery. 

She ;eads the delivery of the FCA’s response throughout the process of withdrawal from the EU, providing technical support to HM Government, and continuing to work closely with EU27, international regulators and the financial services industry, to ensure a smooth transition. Delfa is a member of the FCA’s executive committee, reporting to its chief executive. Delfas has been acting chief operating officer and a member of the FCA’s executive committee, since November 2016.  She is a solicitor, having trained and qualified at law firm Freshfields in London, where she specialised in EU and financial services law.

Netherlands-headquartered TMF Group, a financial services firm which provides funds, and other administration services in the wealth management space, signed former football referee Pierluigi Collina to be a global brand ambassador. Collina was named FIFA’s “best referee of the year” six times in a row, and has officiated at both World Cup and Champions League finals. Collina works alongside Sir Ranulph Fiennes, himself appointed as a TMF Group ambassador in 2016.

UK-based financial services firm Hargreaves Lansdown appointed Deanna Oppenheimer as a director with immediate effect. She joins as a non-executive chair and chair of the nomination committee. Oppenheimer is the senior independent director and chair of remuneration committee of Tesco, non-executive director and chair of the remuneration committee of Whitbread, and as a non-executive director of AXA Group and Worldpay. In the last 5 years, she also held a directorship at NCR Corp.

Also, Mike Evans stood down as non-executive chairman and retired from the board.  Chris Barling stood down as a non-executive director and the senior independent non-executive director. The firm appointed Shirley Garrood as SID. Evans joined the board of Hargreaves Lansdown in September 2006 prior to the IPO in May 2007. Barling served on the board since August 2010 and as the SID and chair of the remuneration committee since October 2013.

LJ Partnership, the London-headquartered private wealth partnership, appointed Susan Geddes as a managing director of structured finance in its real estate team. Geddes has more than 30 years of experience in the real estate finance market, and joined after ten years in Santander’s corporate banking division, where she was managing director of structured real estate finance. Before joining Santander, she worked for Bank of Scotland for 19 years, latterly as head of real estate finance.

Investment management firm Invesco Perpetual promoted Georgina Taylor as a fund manager on the global targeted income strategy and Gwilym Satchell as a fund manager on the global targeted returns strategy. Mike Marshall was appointed to take over the risk management responsibilities for the global targeted returns strategy. Taylor joined the team in June 2013 as the multi-asset team’s product director and part of the original launch team of the global targeted returns strategy. She became research director in 2016. Satchell served as a risk manager for the global targeted returns strategy since its launch in September 2013. Marshall joined the multi-asset team as a risk analyst in March 2015, having previously managed the OTC derivatives and alternatives team.

Brewin Dolphin appointed Rachel Story as investment management assistant of its Penrith office. Story studied Mathematics at the University of Leeds. After graduating last year, she returned to Cumbria. She is now working towards studying for her industry exams to become a chartered wealth manager. 

London-based firm Downing made seven new appointments as it continues to build its investment team. The company appointed three sector specialists to its energy team; Vaggelis Tsesmelidakis as investment director, Ana Knight as technical asset manager and Amar Amin as investment executive. 

Jonathan Lloyd-Evans, Daniel Cheung and Michael Joseph also joined the wider investment team as investment executives. Hannah Kenny was appointed as investment executive for the lending team. Knight previously held the role of technical director for PS Renewables. Tsesmelidakis held senior roles at Deutsche Bank, Thurlestone Capital and global asset manager Capital Dynamics. Lloyd-Evans previously worked for PwC, where he held the role of senior associate in the transactional services team. Cheung worked at Arma Partners, European Capital and Transferguru.  Joseph previously held roles at PwC and Pugh Daniel Properties.

T Rowe Price, the global asset manager, appointed Tammy McPherson as senior relationship manager. McPherson helps to drive institutional client engagement in the UK and Ireland – working with Andrew Skeat and Paul Gallagher and T Rowe Price’s EMEA consultant relations team. Prior to joining T. Rowe Price, McPherson led the UK institutional team at Lombard Odier. She has also held a number of institutional relations roles at Aviva Investors.

Global asset management firm Legg Mason appointed Regina Curry as chief diversity officer. This new hire came after chairman and chief executive Joe Sullivan joined more than 330 CEOs in signing the CEO Action for Diversity and Inclusion pledge to advance diversity and inclusion in the workplace. Curry joined Legg Mason after serving as senior director of global diversity and inclusion at McCormick & Company, where she developed and implemented a multi-year global diversity and inclusion strategy.

Global investment manager Franklin Templeton Investments appointed Manraj Sekhon as chief investment officer of emerging markets equity. He oversees the emerging markets equity teams across the organization, and is based in the firm’s Singapore office. He reports to Stephen Dover, head of equities. Prior to joining Franklin Templeton, Sekhon served as the chief executive, CIO and director of Fullerton Fund Management, a Singapore-based asset manager.

AXA Investment Managers appointed Florence Dard as global head of business development. She leads a newly-created business development department. Based in Paris, Dard reports to Isabelle Scemama, chief executive of AXA IM - Real Assets and will join the management board. She has spent more than 18 years at the AXA Group in various positions including 13 years within AXA Investment Managers as relationship manager for AXA France, head of corporate sales for pension and savings schemes and institutional sales manager.


Asia-Pacific

 

United Overseas Bank appointed Heng Yeow Kwang to its private bank as the market head of Indonesia; he was formerly the co-market head of Indonesia at Bank of Singapore.

Union Bancaire Privée appointed a managing director in Singapore as part of Asian build-out. The appointee was Jonathan Lau, who previously spent seven years at Standard Chartered. He was appointed to its private banking investment services team. He holds the role of senior strategist.Lau, who has worked in consulting for businesses including Deloitte and Arthur Andersen, worked Societe Generale’s private banking arm, and DBS.

London-based asset and wealth management consultant Alpha FMC appointed Michael Chaille appointed as executive director in Asia. He is responsible for the service offering to wealth and asset managers across Asia. Chaille has over 17 years of consulting experience in the asset and wealth management sector. After working at Arthur Andersen, he founded his own consulting boutique, Newtone Associates, which was sold to Chappuis Halder & Co in 2013.

Australia and New Zealand Banking Group appointed Kevin Corbally as chief risk officer, reporting to chief executive Shayne Elliott. Corbally took over from Nigel Williams, who is retiring from ANZ to pursue a career as a non-executive director. Corbally joined ANZ in 2009; most recently, he has been general manager for internal audit after having previously held senior institutional banking and credit management roles. Prior to joining ANZ, he was managing director and head of corporate and commercial banking at Citigroup in Australia & New Zealand.

Alter Domus, a provider of fund and corporate services to alternative investment managers, appointed Alexander Traub as the new regional executive of Asia-Pacific. He is based in Singapore. Traub is also a member of the Alter Domus Group executive board. He is responsible for managing Alter Domus’ client relationships in the APAC region along with the development of the business. He has 18 years’ experience in the financial services sector, almost all of which has been spent in Asia with the last 10 years in Singapore.

NAB Financial Planning appointed Adrian De Silva as the general manager of NAB Financial Planning for South Australia, Western Australian and the Northern Territory. De Silva was most recently the national manager for wealth management at Beyond Bank. Before that, he held roles at AMP and BT Financial.

Global corporate, private client and funds business Hawksford appointed Irene Lee as a private client and corporate business development director to its Singapore office. Lee, who has over 15 years’ financial services industry experience, is responsible for building the company’s relationships with intermediaries and partners serving high net worth individuals and corporate clients in the Asian marketplace. She joined Hawksford from Equiom Singapore, where she was head of business development. Prior to this, she held senior business development and marketing roles at Icaza, Portcullis TrustNet, Citibank Singapore and OCBC Bank.

HSBC Global Asset Management appointed Sebastien Faucher as head of passive fixed income to its investment team. This was a newly-created role. Based in London, Faucher functionally reports to Xavier Baraton global chief investment officer, fixed income, and locally to Philip Glaze, CIO UK.

He joined from Legal & General Investment Management, where he was head of index fixed income, responsible for ongoing fund management activities across all index fund strategies, including fund implementation, client on boarding, and portfolio transition. Previously, from 2006 to 2008, Faucher was investment manager at SSgA Global Fixed Income. He has also held roles with the National Bank of Canada, both in Montreal and London.

Lombard Odier appointed Vincent Magnenat as a limited partner at the firm, in addition to retaining his existing position as chief executive for Asia and Asia head of private banking. He joined the group in 2014 as CEO of the Singapore office and Asia head of private banking. Prior to joining Lombard Odier, he spent close to nine years at Société Générale as regional head of sales and marketing for private banking in Asia.

BlackRock appointed Kimberly Kim to the newly-created post of head of financial institutions group, Asia-Pacific. Based in Hong Kong, Kim formulates and executes an integrated business strategy targeting the region’s insurance companies. She reports to Andrew Landman, BlackRock’s Asia-Pacific head of client business, and David Lomas, head of global financial institutions group.

Kim joined from Deutsche Asset Management, where she was most recently head of global client group for Hong Kong and regional head of insurance coverage for APAC ex-Japan. During almost 15 years at Deutsche Bank, Kim worked across asset management and global market divisions, serving the region’s institutional client business with a focus on the insurance and asset management client base.
Wells Fargo Asset Management hired Wai Lee as global head of research at its multi-asset solutions team. Lee previously worked at Neuberger Berman, spending 14 years there. A frequent speaker at conferences in Beijing, Hong Kong and Australia, Leeso guest lectures at six universities in China and Hong Kong.

VP Bank , part of Liechtenstein-headquartered VP Bank, appointed Samuel Witjaksono as market head of Indonesia. Witjaksono has more than 35 years of experience in the financial business. Prior to his latest role, he worked at several banks in Singapore and Indonesia.

Coherent Capital Advisors, a technology and advisory collection of start-ups working with Asia-based insurers, appointed former C-suite Manulife figure John Brisco as its chief executive. Brisco joined co-founders Michael Chan and Fred Ngan as part of the Coherent Group management team. Brisco was most recently chief investment officer and chief operating officer at Manulife Asia.

Templeton Emerging Markets Investment Trust appointed senior managing director and director of portfolio management Chetan Sehgal, as lead portfolio manager of TEMIT. Based in Singapore, Sehgal took over from Carlos Hardenberg, who left the firm to follow other opportunities.

Sehgal has been a portfolio manager and senior research analyst for TEMIT for the past two years, working with Hardenberg and Dr Mark Mobius, who retired from Franklin Templeton on 31 January 2018. Sehgal is responsible for overseeing Franklin Templeton’s global emerging markets strategy.

T Rowe Price appointed Wenting Shen as a solutions strategist Asia-Pacific. Shen joined the Asia Pacific multi-asset division team in Hong Kong and reports to Thomas Poullaouec, head of multi-asset solutions for APAC. She has more than 10 years’ experience in the region’s investment industry and joins from Blackrock Asset Management, where she was vice president of multi-asset solutions.

Legg Mason appointed Regina Curry as chief diversity officer. Curry had served as senior director of global diversity and inclusion at McCormick & Company, where she developed and implemented a multi-year global diversity and inclusion strategy.

AxiomSL, the global provider of regulatory reporting, risk and data management solutions, appointed Roger Worthington as head of production operations. In this role, Worthington is responsible for leading AxiomSL's newly-created production operations team. He is based in Singapore and will report to Peter Tierney, Asia-Pacific chief executive AxiomSL.

Worthington has more than 20 years' experience in building and managing shared infrastructure, including networks and data centers, at financial institutions. Most recently, he served as the head of APAC operations at Pico, a provider of market data services and customised managed infrastructure solutions.

North America

BNY Mellon Wealth Management’s chief executive, Don Heberle, left the firm at the end of March. Mitchell Harris, CEO of investment management, took on direct oversight of the wealth management business during the transition phase. Before his appointment as CEO in July 2015, Heberle served as executive director of BNY Mellon Wealth Management responsible for wealth strategy and international wealth management. He joined in 1997 from Gemini Consulting.

Citi Private Bank appointed Kristen Bitterly Michell as capital markets head for the Americas. Bitterly Michell is based in New York and report to Iain Armitage, global head of capital markets. In this capacity, she is responsible for asset allocation, product advice, and execution across capital markets for the Americas region. Most recently, Bitterly Michell served as investment counselor head for the Eastern Region for the private bank.

RBC Wealth Management hired the Clements-Langdon Group to its Raleigh office. The Clements-Langdon Group is comprised of Kyle Clements, senior vice president and financial advisor, Will Langdon, senior vice president and financial advisor, and Marj Jurek, registered client associate. The team manages approximately $300 million in client assets and joins RBC from Merrill Lynch, where they had a combined 70 years of experience. 

CBRE Global Investors, a global real asset investment management firm, appointed Scott Spalding as senior managing director and head of high net worth private markets for the Americas. Based in Los Angeles, Spalding is responsible for business development with financial intermediaries and investment advisors who help HNW investors achieve their investment objectives. Spalding has over 17 years of experience and has extensive capabilities in debt and real estate-related investments, fundraising, strategic relationship management and building businesses. Spalding was previously at PIMCO, where he most recently served as an executive vice president.

Chicago-based Interactive Financial Advisors, a SEC-registered investment advisor firm, appointed Jason Wilder as its executive vice president of business development. Wilder, who has 25 years of experience in the financial advisory business, leads Interactive Financial Advisors' effort to expand its roster of investment advisors, resources and clients. He joined after spending seven years as executive vice president of business development of CMG Capital Management Group.

Wilmington Trust appointed three senior figures this month: Avlina Lo, Chris Mone and Robert McKeon. Lo was named as chief wealth strategist. Before joining Wilmington Trust, she served as the director and senior wealth planner for Citi Private Bank. Previously, she was a director at Credit Suisse and, earlier in her career, practiced law at Milbank Tweed Hadley & McCloy, LLP in the Trust & Estates Group.
Mone was appointed as president of US. Markets. In this leadership role, he is responsible for the strategic direction, leadership, and growth of Wilmington Trust’s high-net-worth wealth management business.

He has more than two decades of broad experience in the financial services industry. He most recently served as president of the Los Angeles region for BNY Mellon Wealth Management. Originally from New York, Mone holds a Juris Doctorate from Fordham University School of Law, a bachelor’s degree from St. John’s University, and was an adjunct professor at Northwestern University teaching trust, estate, and retirement planning.

McKeon was appointed head of fiduciary risk management. McKeon has nearly two decades of experience in fiduciary compliance, corporate governance and fiduciary risk management. Before joining Wilmington Trust, he served as a senior director and lead fiduciary officer at Capital One. Previously, he held positions at Morgan Stanley and Merrill Lynch.

Kestra Private Wealth Services , a registered investment advisor subsidiary of Kestra Financial, appointed financial advisors Ed Klein and Graham Pearce to its advisory platform. Together, the two advisors manage more than $215 million in assets. Klein recently opened his new independent practice, Harbor Investment Advisors, in Aberdeen, Washington. He has over 35 years’ experience in the sector. Pearce joined Kestra PWS affiliate firm Stone Beacon Capital, where he served as the firm’s chief investment officer. Pearce was most recently with Raymond James.

Global financial advisor and asset manager Lazard elected Iris Knobloch to the firm's board of directors. Knobloch served as president of Warner Bros Entertainment in France since 2006, where she oversees all of its French businesses. Previously, she was in charge of Time Warner's international relations and strategic policy for Europe, and also worked in Los Angeles and London. Prior to Warner Bros, she was an attorney with Norr, Stiefenhofer & Lutz and with O'Melveny & Myers in Munich, New York and Los Angeles. The firm named independent director Richard Parsons as lead director of Lazard's board, as part of its refreshment process. Steven Heyer, who served as lead director since November 2009, continues in his current roles as chairman of the board's nominating and governance committee, and as a member of the audit committee and the compensation committee.

Diversified Trust appointed Michael Gragnani to its Atlanta office as a principal, responsible for business development and client service. Prior to this role, Gragnani served as principal and senior wealth advisor at Bessemer Trust for nearly a decade, advising high net worth individuals and families throughout the Southeast. Previously, he was a vice president with SunTrust Bank Private Wealth Management. 
Wymer Brownlee, the wealth management firm, appointed Shawn Bean as tax advisor, Deanna Conway as tax coordinator, and Trey Whitley as financial strategist. The trio work from the firm’s Oklahoma City office at Portland and Memorial – one of the firm’s five Oklahoma locations. 

The private client arm of US law firm Stroock appointed Sharon B Soloff as special counsel, working in its New York offices. She previously worked at Withers Bergman. Soloff brings a diverse practice acting on behalf of individuals and families in domestic and international gift, estate and tax planning, including business succession plans and complex family law agreements. Soloff is a vice-chair of the Tax Committee of Trusts and Estates Section of the New York State Bar Association.

Wisconsin-based Shakespeare Wealth Management appointed Nick Ziarek as a financial planner to its operation.  Ziarek has around 15 years' experience in the wealth management sector. He also serves on Shakespeare’s investment committee.

Louisiana-based wealth manager Argent Financial Group appointed Aaron Jack as chief development officer. Previously, Jack served as vice president, director of development of Heritage Trust, an Oklahoma City-based wealth management firm that merged with Argent Financial Group in 2015. 

US Trust, Bank of America's private wealth management arm, appointed Kim Wilkerson as market executive for South Carolina, with offices in Charleston, Columbia and Greensville. She reports to Richard Nichols, US Trust division executive for the South Atlantic Division. In her new role, Wilkerson is responsible for growing US Trust and deliver solutions to high net worth families and institutional clients in South Carolina.

Fidelity Southern Corporation elected Rodney Bullard and Gloria O'Neal to its board of directors, and to the board of Fidelity Bank, which has private banking and wealth management operations. Bullard is vice president of community affairs at Chick-fil-A. and executive director of Chick-fil-A Foundation.  Prior to that, he was Assistant United States Attorney for the Northern District of Georgia, and Legislative Liaison Counsel in the Office of the Secretary of the Air Force, and was also a White House Fellow in Washington, DC.

Fifth Third Bank appointed Patricia Imperial as senior vice president and managing director of Fifth Third Private Bank . Imperial is responsible for overseeing a team of experienced professionals who focus on customer’s wealth management needs, intergenerational wealth transfer and business transition strategies. She has over 30 years of experience in financial services sector. Her career began with Sun Trust Bank before joining Fifth Third Bank in 2012. 

BNY Mellon Wealth Management named Eric Czepyha as head of private business advisory in Columbus, Ohio. Czepyha reports to executive director of advice and fiduciary services, Pamela Lucina. Prior to joining BNY Mellon WM, Czepyha served as both global head of trusts and estates specialty assets and head of closely held asset management at JP Morgan Private Bank.

Asset management firm Lazard appointed Dennis Berman as a managing director in financial advisory. He is based in New York, Berman joins Lazard's shareholder advisory practice. Berman has served as the financial editor of The Wall Street Journal and as a member of the Dow Jones industrial average committee since July 2015.

Canaccord Genuity Group hired investment advisory team Cash Management Group to its Canadian wealth management division. The group is based in Vancouver. Andrew Johns is the lead financial advisor for the Canaccord Genuity Cash Management Group. Johns was joined by a team of 12 professionals.

Winsconsin, Arizona and Minnesota-based Johnson Bank appointed Yolanda Cruz Chamberlain as vice president – Southeast regional private banking manager. Chamberlain, who is based in Burlington and Kenosha, will lead a team of private bankers to deliver customized solutions to clients in Southeast Wisconsin. With 35 years of experience in financial services, Chamberlain has held positions in the retail, mortgage and data services sectors.

SANNE, which provides alternative asset and corporate administration services, appointed Hannah Correll Jaeger as head of client relationship management – Americas. She is based in New York. Prior to this role, Jaeger worked at Vistra Group , where she held the role of director of business development. Before that, she held senior positions at Advise Technologies as well as FBR Capital Markets Company and the Bank of New York – BNY Convergex Group.

Hilton Capital Management appointed Timothy Reilly as a portfolio manager. In addition to his role as a portfolio manager, Reilly manages Hilton's efficient tactical income strategy. Prior to joining Hilton Capital, Reilly was a managing director at Bank of America, where he oversaw their global convertible sales and trading business.  

Catalyst Private Wealth appointed Brad Herman as wealth strategist to lead the team’s financial planning services and planning strategy. Herman has more than 14 years’ experience in the sector. In 2009, he joined Union Bank’s private banking operation, where he spent seven years as a wealth strategist in senior roles. Most recently, he was a vice president with Highland Capital Brokerage, supporting the firm’s affiliated advisors in the area of wealth management.

US Trust reported 18 new hires. It appointed Annette Musa as private client advisor, and Tim Polson as private client manager of its Phoenix office. Musa was previously a market manager at Comerica Bank, and Polson was previously a banker at Comerica Bank.

There were three appointments to US Trust’s California operation. The firm appointed Matthew Boisseree and Brett Lindemann as private client advisors of its San Diego office, and Dylan Gittleman as a private client advisor of its Palo Alto office. Boisseree was previously at BNP Paribas, Lindemann was at Wells Fargo and Gittleman was at TSX Venture Capital.

Timothy Wright joined the Baltimore office as a private client advisor, and Peter Zouzoulas joined the Chevy Chase office as a private client manager. Wright was previously a assistant complex manager at Merrill Lynch, and Zouzoulas was previously a banker at Wells Fargo.

The firm added one each to its operations in New York and New Jersey. It appointed Eric Johnstone as a portfolio manager at its New York office, and Georgios Kyriakopoulos as a private client advisor in its Princeton office. Johnson was previously at S&P, and Kyriakopoulos was at Genspring/SunTrust Robinson Humphrey.

Rhondale Haywood joined the Charlotte office as portfolio manager, and Sharmishtha Prasad joined the Raleigh office as a private client advisor. Haywood was previously a senior investment advisor at PNC, and Prasad was previously at The Private Bank - Wells Fargo as a portfolio manager.

US Trust hired Steve Gray as a private client advisor of its Portland office. He was previously a private banker at KeyBank. It also hired James Peppelman as a private client advisor, and Dennis Springer as a wealth strategies advisor of its Philadelphia office. Peppelman was previously a wealth market leader at TD Bank, and Springer was previously a wealth strategist at Wells Fargo.

Megan Davis joined the Nashville office as a senior trust officer. She was previously at SunTrust Bank, where she was a trust officer.

The firm appointed Courtney Kelch to its Houston office as a senior trust officer, Ford Peters Clary to its Seattle office as a senior trust officer, and Stefan Nicholas as a private client advisor to its Washington, DC office. 

Kelch was previously at BBVA Compass as a fiduciary risk manager. Clary was at US Bank as a trust managing director and Nicholas was at Wells Fargo Private Bank as a wealth advisor.
Chicago-headquartered accounting and financial advisory firm Baker Tilly Virchow Krause appointed Alan Whitman to a second three-year term as chief executive. Whitman is responsible for the firm’s growth, and expanding the firm’s advisory and specialized services.

Wilmington Trust appointed Robert McKeon as head of fiduciary risk management and Alvina Lo as chief wealth strategist. Before joining Wilmington Trust, McKeon served as a senior director and lead fiduciary officer at Capital One. Previously, he held positions at Morgan Stanley and Merrill Lynch. Lo previously served as the director and senior wealth planner for Citi Private Bank. Previously, she was a director at Credit Suisse and, earlier in her career, practiced law at Milbank Tweed Hadley & McCloy, in the trust and estates group.

Investment management firm Cole-Frieman & Mallon, which is headquartered in San Francisco, promoted David C Rothschild to the position of partner. Rothschild has been with the firm for five years. Attorneys Trisha Ton-nu and Laura Wong were promoted to senior associate. Ton-nu joined the firm in 2014 and Wong came on board in 2015.

Goldman Sachs named a former president of the Rio 2016 Olympic Committee as chief executive and president of its Brazil business. Maria Silvia Bastos Marques, report to Gonzalo Garcia and Ram Sundaram, co-heads of Latin America. She replaced Paulo Leme, who retired from the firm at the end of April, after nearly 25 years of service. In her career, Maria Silvia Bastos Marques held several positions at BNDES, the Brazilian development bank, mostly recently as its president. She was the president of Companhia Siderúrgica Nacional , the Brazilian Steel Institute and Icatu Seguros, and was a partner at MS & CR2 Finanças Corporativas. Canadian-owned wealth manager Stone Investment Group announced that John Juhlke stepped down from his position as president of SIG. Juhlke continues to serve as a board member of SIG.
The Family Wealth Alliance appointed two executives at its leadership team: Suzanne Karpick and Brooke Morimoto. Karpick is managing director, strategic relationships and brings 20 years of experience to the role. She previously held leadership roles in investor and client relations at firms including Echo Global Logistics, Duff & Phelps Investment Management Co. and Macerich, a regional mall real estate investment trust. Karpick serves on the advisory board member of Selah Freedom and volunteers as a consultant at Taproot Foundation, and as a mentor at 1871. She earned her MBA in Marketing and Strategy from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University.

Morimoto is the FWA's Alliance Ambassador. In this role, Moritomo is responsible for leveraging day-to-day operations and FWA events with both strategic and tactical support. Previously, Brooke held strategic planning and data analysis roles in the nonprofit sector. Brooke received her Master’s in Public Administration and her BA in History and Political Science from The University of North Carolina at Charlotte.

Lazard Asset Management expanded its international equity platform, adding a new team. Based in New York, Mark Rooney, Erik Van Der Sande, Craig Lottner and Chris Torino form the Lazard international value concentrated team. The team joined LAM from LRV Capital Management LLC , which was co-founded by Rooney, Van Der Sande and Lottner with seeding from Stride Capital Group in 2012. They began working together more than 15 years ago at Millgate Capital. 

Commerce Bancshares, the parent company of Commerce Bank, which has a wealth management operation, appointed Karen Daniel as a member of its board of directors. Daniel replaced James Hebenstreit, who resigned from the role. She serves Hebenstreit’s remaining term and position on the board until 2020. Daniel also serves on the audit and risk committee of the board. She spent 11 years with the certified public accounting firm of Peat Marwick , rising to senior audit manager. She joined Black & Veatch in 1992 with the internal audit group, was named chief financial officer in 1999 and joined the Black & Veatch board of directors in 2006.

Och-Ziff Capital Management appointed Robert Shafir as chief executive. He will succeeded Dan Och in the role. Dan Och, the company’s largest shareholder, continues to serve as chairman of the board until March 31, 2019, after which time he expects to remain involved with the firm. Shafir, who previously served as the CEO of Credit Suisse Americas and co-head of private banking and wealth management, provides day-to-day leadership and management of the company.
